Boston
College
The Wallace E. Carroll School of Management
Background
:
In 1998, the Boston Globe profiled various local collegiate websites,
and selected Boston College as one of the worst. It cited the complete
lack of continuity between departments, schools, and the university.
With a partner and with the help of a local small business center,
we established a company in the city of Boston, and bid successfully
among two other firms to land the contract. The project included
bringing together the entire school of management's many departments,
which had until that time been maintaining their websites autonomously.
The entire new site had to fall within Boston College's established
standards for branding and content.
Implementation:
Exclusively HTML, with an emphasis on easy maintainability, as the
departments would continue to be in charge of maintaining their
own content. Entire design was original, as was much of the content,
gathered and edited from a variety of sources. Graphics and all
code was brand-new. Project was finished on time and under budget.
Role:
Partner, web designer. Handled all client contact and web design,
shared implementation duties.
